Refunds, Billing and Cancellation

Version 1.0, effective 20 July 2026

This policy explains how Chomply subscriptions are billed, how to cancel, and when you are entitled to a refund. In short: Pro is billed in advance and renews automatically until you cancel, you keep access to the end of a period you have paid for, and we do not give change-of-mind refunds. Separately, and importantly, you always have the rights that come with the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which this policy does not take away.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to Chomply Pro subscriptions and to any one-off purchases you make through the app.

It sits alongside our Terms and Conditions and forms part of your agreement with us.

In plain terms: this covers paid subscriptions and any single purchases.

Free and paid plans

Chomply offers a free plan with core features and usage limits, so you can use the app without paying.

Chomply Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks additional features and higher or removed limits. The current features and limits of each plan are described on our pricing page in the app.

In plain terms: there is a free plan that always works, and a paid Pro plan that adds more.

How billing works

Chomply Pro is billed in advance for each billing period through our payment processor, Stripe, in Australian dollars.

Your subscription renews automatically at the start of each new period, and we charge the payment method on file, until you cancel. We will tell you the price and billing frequency before you subscribe.

In plain terms: you pay up front for each period in Australian dollars, and it keeps renewing until you cancel.

Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.

When you cancel, your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again after that. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not shorten the period you are currently in.

In plain terms: cancel whenever you like, keep Pro until the paid period runs out, and you will not be billed again.

Change-of-mind refunds

We do not offer refunds for a change of mind.

If you cancel part-way through a billing period, you keep access until the end of that period, but you do not receive a pro-rata refund for the unused part of it.

In plain terms: if you simply change your mind, we do not refund the current period, but you still get to use it to the end.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy limits or removes those rights.

If there is a major failure with the service, you are entitled to cancel your subscription and receive a refund for the unused portion, or to keep the subscription and seek compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by the failure. If the failure is not a major failure, you are entitled to have the problem fixed within a reasonable time, and if it is not fixed within a reasonable time, you can cancel and receive a refund for the unused portion.

A failure is a "major failure" where, for example, the service is substantially unfit for its purpose, is significantly different from what was described, or has a problem that would have stopped a reasonable person from subscribing had they known about it in advance.

In plain terms: your consumer guarantees always apply. For a serious problem you can cancel and get the unused part refunded (or claim other reasonable losses), and for a smaller problem we get a fair chance to fix it, and if we do not, you can cancel and be refunded for the unused part.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we will attempt to charge your payment method again over a short retry period, and we will notify you so you can update your details.

If payment ultimately cannot be taken, your subscription will not renew and your account will move to the free plan. You keep your account and data, but Pro features will no longer be available until you resubscribe.

In plain terms: if a payment fails we retry and let you know, and if it still cannot go through you simply drop back to the free plan.

Price changes

We may change the price of a subscription. We will give existing subscribers at least 30 days notice before a price change takes effect.

You can cancel before the new price applies if you do not want to continue at the new rate. If you do not cancel, the new price applies from your next billing period after the notice.

In plain terms: we give you at least 30 days warning before any price rise, and you can cancel first if you would rather not pay it.

Free trials and promotional offers

From time to time we may offer a free trial or a promotional offer.

If a free trial is offered, we will tell you how long it lasts and when it converts to a paid subscription. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial, billed as described above. You can cancel at any time during the trial from your account settings to avoid being charged.

In plain terms: if you take a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first, and cancelling during the trial is free.

Lifetime access grants

If we offer a lifetime access grant, it gives the named account access to the Pro features covered by the grant for the lifetime of the service.

A lifetime grant is personal to the account, is non-transferable, and does not entitle you to features outside its scope. If the service is permanently discontinued, a lifetime grant ends with the service, and we will handle any such situation reasonably and in line with the Australian Consumer Law.

In plain terms: a lifetime grant covers that account for as long as the app runs, cannot be transferred, and ends if the app is ever shut down for good.

Chargebacks

If you think a charge is wrong, please contact us first so we can look into it and put it right, rather than raising a chargeback with your bank.

While a chargeback is being disputed, we may suspend the affected account until the dispute is resolved, to prevent misuse.

In plain terms: talk to us before going to your bank, and note that an account may be paused while a chargeback is in dispute.

App store purchases

If you bought a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's own refund and billing policy applies to the purchase, and any refund must be requested from the store, not from us. We cannot refund a purchase we did not process.

In plain terms: if a store took the payment, the store handles the refund.

[FOR LEGAL REVIEW: remove this clause if in-app purchases will never be offered.]

How to request a refund

To request a refund where you are entitled to one, email [[LEGAL.CONTACT_EMAIL NOT SET]] with the email address on your account and the date of the charge.

We will acknowledge your request promptly and aim to respond within a reasonable time, usually within a few business days. Where a refund is due, we process it to your original payment method through Stripe.

In plain terms: email us with your account email and the charge date, and we will get back to you quickly and refund to your original payment method where it is owed.
