Scanning from Your Computer

Scanning works on your computer too, though a barcode scan is easiest with a phone camera.

A Scan checks a product against your Avoidances (the ingredients you want to watch for) and returns a Verdict: CLEARED or FLAGGED. On a computer without a good camera, you have two easy ways to get there.

Upload a label photo

1. Open the scanner on your computer.
2. Choose the option to add a label photo.
3. Upload a clear picture of the ingredient list. Chomply reads the printed text for you.
4. Check and correct the ingredients in the box, then confirm to see your Verdict.

This is also where you can type or paste an ingredient list by hand if you already have the text.

Pair your phone instead

If you would rather scan barcodes, the desktop scanner shows a code you can point your phone at.

1. Scan that code with your phone to open the scanner there.
2. Keep scanning on your phone. Your session stays in sync across both screens.
