Understanding Scan Results

Published 19 July 2026 · 7 views

Every Scan ends with a Verdict: CLEARED or FLAGGED. Here is what each one means.

A Scan is Chomply reading a product's ingredient list. A Verdict is the answer it gives back, checked against your Avoidances: the ingredients, allergens, and additives you asked Chomply to watch for.

CLEARED

CLEARED means nothing in the ingredients matched an Avoidance. The product looks clear for the people you checked.

A CLEARED Verdict only covers what you have added. If an ingredient is not on your list, Chomply cannot flag it, so keep your Avoidances up to date.

FLAGGED

FLAGGED means at least one ingredient matched. Chomply names the exact ingredient behind the match, and who in your family it affects, so you are never left guessing.

  • Read the "Why it's flagged" section to see the matched ingredient.
  • Check the packet yourself before you decide.

A Verdict is not medical advice

A Verdict is a check against your list, nothing more. It is not medical or safety advice, and it does not guarantee a product is safe to eat.

Ingredients and recipes change over time. When it matters, read the label on the packet and talk to your doctor.
